Bike show photo extravaganza!
By James T. Holter

The International Motorcycle Show is held every winter at the Rosemont Convention Center in Rosemont, Ill. (adjacent to Chicago). We took a trip around the show floor this year to see if there was anything new.

Actually, there wasn't much. If you take a couple minutes to flip through the dirt bike mags at your local grocery store every once in awhile like we do, you've seen it all by the time February rolls around. Plus, we were disappointed that ATK wasn't there with a pre-production version of 2004's ATK 700 two-stroke motocrosser.

However, it does help to get the riding juices flowing to see the bikes in person and throw a leg over a couple. (Also, watching the copy of "On Any Sunday" that we scored from the Cycle News guy for subscribing didn't hurt either!)

This picture was taken following Mike's run-in with a self-described "baby killer." (Yes. We're serious. Mike tends to bring the best out in people.) It's a photo of the new CRF250X, the woods version of Honda's racing four-stroke. Note the kickstarter. However, with the electric start, hopefully you won't need it.

Although he might be more comfortable executing backflips with the roof and all, this probably isn't the best machine for Mike to pull his can-cans on.

These are some new entries into the very crowded 50cc racing market. They look OK, but feel rather heavy. A minidad needs something he can easily toss into the back of the truck when frustrated with junior's performance -- preferably with one hand so he can scold the boy with the other. For that reason, we'd take a pass on these Tomos bikes.

There's nothing better than hanging out at a bike show with your best riding buddy -- except riding with him, of course!

Mike on his dream bike (even if he's not quite sure of it yet) -- a new KX500.

Almost ready! While he's a few months away from a 65, Dad's ready to drop the 50 class (and its maintenance schedule) today. (Hey, at least the kid isn't trying to make a face in this photo.)

Is it a motorcycle if it has four tires? In our opinion, no.

Now this is a motorcycle!
